Charging Ahead: Exterior Photography at Jet Garage Rochford

Earlier today, I had the pleasure of working with Jet Garage in Rochford, capturing a brand-new addition to their growing list of services—Jet Charge, a cutting-edge electric vehicle (EV) charging solution. As businesses across the UK continue to adapt to an increasingly electric future, Jet Garage is staying ahead of the curve with the installation of these new charging ports, and I was brought in to document this exciting development.
The brief was clear: a set of images that showcased the full scope of the garage, including wide-angle site shots to place the location in context, as well as close-up detail shots of the Jet Charge units themselves. The aim was to produce a collection of professional, high-impact images that could be used across a range of marketing materials—from website content and social media to press releases and signage.

Understanding the Client’s Vision
Before any camera gear came out, I spent time chatting with the team at Jet Garage to understand exactly how they wanted their brand and services represented. They weren’t just looking for glossy product photos—they needed authentic, professional images that communicate trust, innovation, and convenience to their customers. With the new Jet Charge stations, they’re not only offering a practical solution for EV drivers in Rochford, but also making a clear statement about the future direction of their business.
For shoots like this, getting the brief right is everything. It’s not just about taking nice pictures—it’s about creating images with a purpose. Whether it’s increasing foot traffic, attracting corporate clients, or telling a story about brand evolution, my goal is always to ensure the photos work hard for the business behind them.

A Smart Mix of Wide and Detail Shots
The first part of the shoot focused on capturing the site as a whole. Using a wide-angle lens and carefully considered compositions, I photographed the exterior of the garage from several vantage points. These images help give context to the new installation, showing how the charging ports fit seamlessly within the existing forecourt layout.
Lighting was on my side today—clear skies with a gentle overcast provided just the right balance of contrast and softness. These kinds of conditions allow surfaces like signage, glass, and metal to be captured in flattering, consistent tones without harsh glare or deep shadows.
From there, I moved in closer to focus on the Jet Charge units themselves. These detail shots are often what bring a product to life. I captured the branding on the units, the charging cables in situ, and the interface panels. These photos are particularly important for marketing purposes, as they allow Jet Garage to showcase the high-end, user-friendly design of the new technology.
In post-production, I’ll be fine-tuning colour balance and contrast to ensure everything looks true-to-life while retaining the vibrant blues and yellows that are key to Jet’s brand identity.

Why These Photos Matter for Business
From a commercial perspective, this type of photography is incredibly valuable. Businesses like Jet Garage can now use these images to:
Promote the new service online and in print
Improve local SEO by updating their Google Business listing with fresh, relevant photos
Create engaging content for their social media channels
Send visuals to local press or industry publications
Build trust with new customers by visually demonstrating progress and innovation
When businesses invest in high-quality photography, they’re not just improving the look of their marketing—they’re increasing credibility, clarity, and confidence in their brand.

Photography That Works as Hard as You Do
As a commercial photographer, I take pride in working closely with local businesses like Jet Garage to produce tailored images that support real-world business goals. Whether it’s a new product, a refurbished space, or simply a desire to refresh your visual content, I believe every shoot should be a strategic asset, not just a creative exercise.
Today’s shoot is a great example of how even a relatively small change—like installing new EV chargers—can be turned into a powerful piece of visual storytelling. With just a few hours on site, we’ve created a bank of content that Jet Garage can use across dozens of platforms, for months or even years to come.
